Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic tissues. This displaced tissue continues to act as it normally would - thickening, breaking down, and bleeding with each menstrual cycle - causing severe pain, inflammation, and often fertility problems.
